Clinical knowledge-guided attention for gait-based adult spinal deformity assessment from monocular video
Published in Journal of Medical Imaging, 2026
This study introduces clinician-informed, anatomy-guided attention for video-based assessment of adult spinal deformity. Clinically relevant joints and motion patterns are encoded as attention guidance for a spatiotemporal video classifier.
The framework was evaluated on monocular gait videos from 81 patients. It achieved 71.35% accuracy and 71.12% F1-score, compared with 62.09% accuracy and 60.13% F1-score for the corresponding no-attention baseline. Visualization analyses also showed more clinically meaningful focus.
